Saturday: Explore Garden City Before Kickoff

With a 7:00 PM start time at Expo Idaho, Saturday gives you a full day to experience Garden City before the first home match.

Morning Coffee & Greenbelt Walk

Start your morning with coffee in Garden City:

Push & Pour — craft coffee in a welcoming space near the Boise River.
Grindz Coffee — a local favorite for espresso and breakfast bites.

Take your coffee to-go and walk the Boise River Greenbelt, just steps from many Garden City lodging options. Early April weather makes for a perfect pre-game morning outdoors.

Midday Lunch in Garden City

Before heading to the stadium, sit down for lunch at:

Caffè Luciano’s — known for fresh pasta, hearty Italian plates, and a relaxed atmosphere ideal for pre-game conversation.

Garden City also offers brewery kitchens, winery tasting rooms, tacos, elevated pub fare, and family-friendly dining. Explore the complete dining guide on our Where to Eat in Garden City page to plan your meal stops.

Late Afternoon: Tailgating at Expo Idaho

Opening night deserves early energy.

Head to Expo Idaho ahead of kickoff and join fellow fans for tailgating before the match. Whether you’re meeting friends in the parking lot, setting up lawn chairs, or soaking in the pre-game atmosphere, tailgating adds to the excitement of the inaugural home game.

Because Expo Idaho is located in Garden City, staying nearby makes it easy to enjoy tailgating, attend the match, and return to your hotel or rental without navigating heavy post-game traffic.

Saturday Night: Opening Match at Expo Idaho

At 7:00 PM, Athletic Club Boise takes the field for its first-ever home game in Garden City.

The April 4 matchup against Spokane marks a milestone moment for professional soccer in the Treasure Valley. Fans attending opening night aren’t just watching a match — they’re part of the beginning of a new sports tradition in Garden City.

Staying local means you can celebrate the win, recap the match with friends, and return to your accommodations within minutes.

Sunday: Slow Morning Before Checkout

Before heading home, enjoy one more slow morning in Garden City.

Grab coffee, take another Greenbelt walk, visit a winery tasting room, or explore local maker spaces before checkout. Turning opening weekend into a full two-night stay allows you to experience Garden City beyond the stadium.

Make It a Soccer Weekend in Garden City

Athletic Club Boise may represent the region — but opening night lives in Garden City.

When you travel to the Treasure Valley for the April 4 home opener at Expo Idaho, staying in Garden City puts you closest to the action while giving you access to dining, coffee, river walks, and post-game gathering spots.

Plan your Friday–Sunday stay, secure your tickets, and build your soccer weekend around Garden City. It all starts with your stay in Garden City, a true oasis from ordinary.

Building Brighter Futures for Garden City

On June 19, 2024, the Garden City Visitors Bureau (GCVB) hosted its second annual Garden Party, a vibrant and joyous event dedicated to supporting the organizations daily business activities and raising funds for the local nonprofit Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers. This year, the event was a resounding success, drawing close to 100 enthusiastic attendees and generous contributions from 50 businesses, culminating in significant financial support for both organizations. However, the Garden Party is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a testament to Garden City’s commitment to community and collaboration.

“The Garden City Visitors Bureau chose Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers for the 2024 Garden Party to invest in our community and its smallest residents. Giving back through this event offers a unique need in healthy programs and learning opportunities for young people. We hope through our efforts to create a lasting change within our community and build a positive relationship,” said Dawn Snapp-Leasure, a long-time supporter and GCVB board member.

The event’s results were indeed impressive. After expenses, the Garden City Visitors Bureau raised $24,949, and Giraffe Laugh received $11,056. This substantial contribution will significantly impact both organizations, enabling them to continue their vital work within the community.

Giraffe Laugh: Building Strong Futures

They aim to ensure school readiness, empower families, and build strong futures. The organization envisions a future where every child in the Treasure Valley receives high-quality early childhood education, and all parents have the necessary support during the early stages of parenthood, irrespective of their age or financial situation.

Established in 1989, Giraffe Laugh began as a drop-in childcare center for low-income families. Over the years, it has expanded to meet the growing need for affordable, high-quality childcare and preschool opportunities in the Treasure Valley community. Today, Giraffe Laugh proudly serves over 170 children annually across its various centers, including a location in Garden City.

“Giraffe Laugh was thrilled to be chosen as the beneficiary of the Garden City Visitors Bureau for their Annual Garden Party event. The incredible donation from the Garden City Visitors Bureau will provide scholarships for low to moderate-income families who would otherwise not be able to afford quality childcare. In addition to scholarships, Giraffe Laugh provides access to food pantries at all centers as well as support for the entire family. We are grateful to all who attended this event and contributed their treasures to help Giraffe Laugh ensure school readiness, empower families, and build strong futures. Our partnership with the Garden City Visitors Bureau enhances the Garden City community and we are grateful to know and work with this amazing organization,” said Cassandra Wagner, Philanthropy Director, Giraffe Laugh.

The Garden City Visitors Bureau: Enhancing Community Through Tourism

The Garden City Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supported by a dedicated volunteer board, grant funding, and its annual fundraiser, the Garden Party. The Visitors Bureau is crucial in promoting tourism and enhancing the local community by supporting daily business activities and special initiatives like the Garden Party.

The success of the 2nd Annual Garden Party highlights the power of community and the collective impact of individuals and businesses coming together for a common cause. The funds raised will support GCVB’s mission and provide critical resources for Giraffe Laugh, ensuring that more children in the Treasure Valley have access to quality early education and that their families receive the support they need.

As Garden City continues to grow and thrive, events like the Garden Party remind its residents and businesses of its strength and generosity. The Garden City Visitors Bureau and Giraffe Laugh look forward to continuing their partnership and making a positive difference in the community for years.
